Biography
“I am influenced by everyday life.”
Expressing myself through writing, poetry, drawings, or photography, I've always had a love for the arts. I wanted to pursue a career in one of these fields. Of course this was an unconventional direction that my parents wanted me to go in. In my 8th grade yearbook, I said that I wanted to be a surgeon just to make my parents happy.
Music was the initial path. I am is a music junkie. I listen to all types of music. I’m schizophrenic when it comes to music. I have worked at a music magazine, two music labels, and an artist management firm. Working at these different types of companies within the music business, I've realized that I didn’t fit in. You see the glitz and glamour that these musicians live, then you see all the behind the scenes. You realize it’s not what it’s all cracked up to be. That aspect of the music business did not interest me, but I did learn a lot about business in general. I needed to express myself through another creative outlet.
I have always had a love for photography. I was first introduced to photography by my aunt, who took a photo of me when I was a baby. At 5 years old I noticed a Herb Ritts photograph of Madonna, one of my favorite singers, for her 1986 album True Blue. I always thought that was a hot cover. Since then I have followed the work of Herb Ritts and other lensmen who have photographed Madonna.
I took my hobby seriously when I took a Beginning Photography class as an elective at my college. I've always wanted to know how to make those black and white photos that the record companies used as press pictures. I instantly fell in love with the process. Once you are introduced to something that looks and sounds interesting, you want to learn more. I then pursued a degree in Commercial Photography at LaGuardia Community College in Long Island City, NY.
Photography for me is documenting life. I like to photograph anything and everything that looks interesting. I could shoot an object that came from the 1880s to the 1980s. Photographs let people know that this person or thing existed. My photographs will let people know that I existed.
I am currently living in Las Vegas and have photographed/filmed with up-and-coming models, actors, dancers, clothing designers, and artists. I am also a entertainment photographer, shooting celebrity events and candids. I also do some with web development, having maintained sites for actor Paul Iacono (www.PaulIacono.com) and rapper/actor AlBe Back (www.AlbeBack.com)
I am also the creator & co-founder of Rhythm Addict TV, dance media production company covering the dance scene & culture and beyond (http://youtube.com/RhythmAddictsTV).
